An Introduction - Mtito Andei Development Initiative

Mtito Andei Development Initiative (MDI) is a young, recently established but rapidly expanding Community Based Organisation (CBO) in Mtito Andei Division, Eastern Province, Kenya. Its office is located at Kambu. It was established in mid 2003 as an out growth of the former Kathekani Tsetse Control Mbungo Project, which was founded in 1994 through ITDG-EA as a tsetse control intervention measure in Kathekani and its environs.

The transformatiion of the Mbung'o project to CBO status resulted from the pioneering effort of the former Mbung'o control committee. The transformation idea emanated after considering the significance of assessing and addressing community needs through a more diversified approach to enhance sustainable rural development in Mtito Andei Division.
